2023 CAGBA National Show Information

2023 CAGBA National Angora Goat Show

The Estes Park Wool Market will once again host the annual CAGBA National Show. The show date is Saturday June 10th. The Estes Park Wool Market also hosted the very first CAGBA National Show in 2001, 22 years ago! This year is also the 31st year for the Wool Market being held. Your National Show committee is working hard behind the scenes to make this show a memorable one!

Estes Park Colorado is a beautiful Rocky Mountain resort town. The wildlife is abundant, particularly the native elk population. The elk families wander all over the town, it’s a photographer’s paradise. There is plenty of lodging to choose from, hotels, motels, cabins on the Big Thompson River, lodges, camping, B&Bs, and hostels. There are so many restaurants that anyone can find a restaurant for their ethnic liking. Book early, because accommodations have been known to run out of rooms.  There is so much to do, horseback riding, fishing, sightseeing, the Great Divide, putt putt golf, shopping, eating, to name just a few.  You can even book your room in the infamous Stanley Hotel, where the movie with Jack Nicholson “The Shining” was filmed. Plan on staying over a day or arriving a day or two early. Your goats can stay in the goat facility a few days prior to the show if arrangements are made ahead of time. The Wool Market web site is being updated daily. Registration forms for the colored and white angora goat shows https://www.estesparkeventscomplex.com/goats.html and colored and white fleece shows https://www.estesparkeventscomplex.com/fleece.html are up and ready to be accessed. The National show is a great place to learn about Angora Goats, meet like-minded people and enjoy the camaraderie that’s found at all the National Shows.

If you have questions about the show, please contact the show superintendent Cheryl Meyer at kidmohair1@aol.com or Kristi Kistner at melibranfarms@gmail.com.

NATIONAL SHOW SPONSORSHIP

Calling any and all farms, individuals, or businesses to sponsor a class and support the National CAGBA Show this June! For as little as $50.00, a sponsor can cover the cost of 5 “place” ribbons and an award for the winner of one class. Sponsors will be recognized at the show, and they will be able to have their photo taken with the winner of the class they choose to cover. Additionally, sponsors will be announced in the CAGBA newsletter and also be able to place a free ¼ page farm advertisement in the newsletter.

This is a great way to support CAGBA and advertise your farm business!  We will have over 30 classes and fiber awards at the National Show this year and want to provide a meaningful, valuable prize to those making the journey. Please go to the CAGBA website to become a sponsor (www.cagba.org/events-and-angora-goat-shows/) and contact Leslie Griffin (sweetandspicyfarm@gmail.com) with any questions.

NATIONAL SHOW SILENT AUCTION

This year we’ll have a silent auction at the National Show and are looking for donations! Please contact Jeanne Johnson (jeanneejohnson@yahoo.com)or Anne Murer (3heartsacres.org@gmail.com) with items your farm would like to offer as items to auction (eg, raw mohair fleece, processed mohair, yarn, crocheted/knitted/woven mohair, fiber processing equipment). Donating farms will be recognized at the show. Additionally, they will be announced in the CAGBA newsletter and also be able to place a free ¼ page farm advertisement in the newsletter.

NATIONAL SHOW INSPECTIONS

A training inspection class will also be available to those who would like to become an inspector. The class will be an opportunity to get angora goats recorded or unregistered goats inspected for admission to the registry. Training will be held after the show on Saturday. Time to be determined. Contact Cheryl Meyer at kidmohair1@aol.com for more information.
